John Apperson is an unsung hero in Adirondack conservation. An engineer by trade, Apperson devoted himself and his time to protecting Lake George and its islands. It is through his efforts that Robert Moses had to abandon plans for a highway along the lakeside base of Tongue Mountain and today many enjoy visiting islands he personally walled off from erosion with riprap he and his friends laid. We pay homage to this Gilded Age conservationist with a classic and timeless flannel.
